National Chief Cindy Woodhouse Nepinak of the AFN urges Manitoba's Lieutenant-Governor to establish an independent inquiry into the killings of four Indigenous women in the province.
The Assembly of First Nations' (AFN) National Chief Cindy Woodhouse Nepinak has urged Manitoba's Lieutenant-Governor, Anita Neville, to establish an independent inquiry into the killings of four Indigenous women in the province. This follows the AFN's recent passing of a resolution seeking an inquiry to assess the police investigation and provincial response to these killings. The call for an inquiry comes after Jeremy Skibicki was found guilty of first-degree murder in the deaths of Morgan Harris, Marcedes Myran, Rebecca Contois, and an unidentified woman referred to by the Indigenous grassroots community as Buffalo Woman.
