Kenya's teachers face budget cuts due to austerity measures, affecting health insurance, CBA implementation, and junior school teacher employment. President William Ruto's budget revisions have slashed the Teachers Service Commission's (TSC) budget by Sh10 billion, potentially halting salary increases and training programs for teachers on the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC). TSC has been directed to spend only 15% of the remaining allocation, leaving them to pay only teachers' salaries. The 46,000 intern teachers will also wait longer to join the government payroll.
