Impeached South African judge John Hlophe, once accused of corruption, is now the leader of the opposition party MK, formerly led by ex-President Jacob Zuma. Hlophe's impeachment in February ended a long-standing scandal that began in 2008 with accusations of attempting to influence judges in Zuma's favor. Hlophe's career switch to politics came as the state stopped paying his legal bills.
