981 residents from Garden River, part of the Little Red River Cree Nation in northern Alberta, who fled their homes due to wildfires, are now eligible for emergency payments from the provincial government. Each adult will receive $1,250 and each child $500 to cover immediate housing needs and essentials. The Semo Complex Fire continues to burn, with 128 active wildfires in the province.
