Billy Joel's Madison Square Garden special and Lionel Richie's "We Are the World" documentary receive Emmy nominations.
Billy Joel's CBS special, "Billy Joel: The 100th – Live at Madison Square Garden," has earned an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-recorded). The special, which aired in April, featured Joel's 100th performance at the iconic New York venue. In addition, Lionel Richie's documentary, "The Greatest Night in Pop," which explores the making of the all-star charity single "We Are the World," has also been nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special, with Richie as the doc's producer. The 76th Emmy Awards will be broadcast live on ABC on September 15 and stream on Hulu the next day.
