A lodge owner in central NZ's Ōwhango village, near two national parks, is praised for spotting invasive clams left by guests. The highly invasive clams can reach high densities, produce up to 400 juveniles daily, and clog water-based infrastructure. Biosecurity New Zealand destroyed the clams and educated the collectors, while Horizons Regional Council commended the owner's vigilance.
