Study in Annals of Internal Medicine links Omicron-era hospital-onset SARS-CoV-2 infections to increased morbidity and mortality.
A study in Annals of Internal Medicine links Omicron-era hospital-onset SARS-CoV-2 infections with increased morbidity and mortality. Researchers found patients with hospital-onset SARS-CoV-2 were older, had more comorbidities, and faced increased ICU admissions, longer time to discharge, and higher mortality rates in both pre-Omicron and Omicron periods. The study recommends hospitals implement measures to prevent nosocomial SARS-CoV-2 infections.
