Federal High Court reinstates Phillip Shaibu as Edo State's Deputy Governor, ruling impeachment unconstitutional.
The Federal High Court in Abuja has reinstated Phillip Shaibu as Edo State's Deputy Governor, ruling that his impeachment by the state assembly was unconstitutional. The court declared the impeachment illegal and in violation of the Constitution, and ordered that Shaibu's salaries and allowances be paid from April. The Edo State House of Assembly has since appealed the judgement and filed for a stay of execution pending appeal.
