Nigerian government investigates land-grabbing allegations against Agip and Shell in Bayelsa State.

The Nigerian government is investigating allegations of land-grabbing against the Nigerian Agip Oil Company and Shell Petroleum Development Company in Bayelsa State. The Ministry of Petroleum Resources launched the probe in response to a petition by Agi Bestman, the Niger Delta MoU/Corporate Social Responsibilities coordinator, on behalf of affected communities. The investigative team, led by Kamoru Busari, includes officials from the Office of the Surveyor General of the Federation, the Nigerian Police, and the Bayelsa State Government, and will conduct a fact-finding mission in Biseni, Enebele, Ogbia, and Gbaran communities.
