The Nigerian Federal Government has refuted allegations of plans to sell public universities to private investors. Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, stated this at the Second Quarterly Engagement of the ministry, clarifying that there is no plan to sell off universities to investors. The policy of the government allows for transnational education, enabling investment from the global community to open up tertiary education.
