Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel concluded that Lansing police officers acted in self-defense when they fatally shot Stephen Luis Romero during a domestic violence call in December 2023. The investigation found that the officers only fired upon Romero when his hand was on his gun, and determined their actions justified. No criminal charges will be issued against the officers.
