Malawi has declared an end to its deadliest cholera outbreak since March 2022, which killed nearly 2,000 people. The Ministry of Health reported no cases or deaths from cholera in 26 of Malawi's 29 health districts in the past four weeks, although health experts warn that the outbreak could resurface if sanitation issues are not addressed. Malawi President Lazarus Chakwera launched a national campaign in February 2023 to end the cholera outbreak, aiming to reduce the fatality rate from 3.2% to below 1%.
