Australian media, creative, and arts workers call for AI regulation due to job loss, trust undermining, and theft concerns.

Media, creative, and arts workers in Australia are urging the Federal Government to regulate the use of AI in their industries, due to concerns about job losses, undermined public trust in media, and theft of creative works without consent or compensation. The Media, Entertainment & Arts Alliance (MEAA) is spearheading the Stop AI Theft campaign, calling for new legislation, greater government oversight, and taxation on businesses replacing human workers with AI. The inquiry will also hear from Adobe, Human Rights Watch, and the Law Council of Australia.
