32-year-old Xherdan Shaqiri, Switzerland's second most-capped player with 125 appearances, announced his retirement from international football. Shaqiri, who now plays with Chicago Fire in the United States, represented Switzerland in four World Cups and three European Championships. His last appearance for the national team came in the Euro 2024 quarter-final against England.
