Tánaiste Micheál Martin has shown interest in the Irish government purchasing Rory Gallagher's iconic 1961 Fender Stratocaster guitar, valued at up to €1.2m, set for auction. Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr Dan Boyle, and a crowdfunding campaign by Sheena Crowley aim to keep the guitar in Ireland. The guitar, which Gallagher bought for £100 in 1963, is a significant piece of Irish music history.
