Two support workers breached the Code of Health and Disability Services Consumers' Rights by verbally abusing a young disabled woman in a residential care home for offenders. The Health and Disability Commissioner found the workers failed to provide appropriate care and treat the woman with respect, and one support worker also failed to treat her with dignity and independence. One worker was fired and another left after an internal investigation.
