Priests in Uttarakhand are protesting against the construction of a Kedarnath temple in Delhi, as they believe the name of the sacred shrine is being misused for monetary gains. Swami Avimukteshwaranand, Shankaracharya of Jyotirmath, has objected to the building of a Kedarnath temple in the national capital, stating that a symbolic Kedarnath cannot be established. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami laid the foundation stone for the new temple on July 10, amid ongoing protests in Rudraprayag, Uttarakhand.
