5-month closure of Frankfurt-Mannheim rail route for €1.3bn upgrade to enhance reliability.
Germany closes one of its busiest rail routes, the 70-km stretch between Frankfurt and Mannheim, for a 5-month overhaul to improve reliability. Deutsche Bahn, the state-owned railway operator, plans to upgrade the tracks, stations, and other infrastructure during the closure. The route handles over 300 daily trains and is part of a main north-south rail route connecting Hamburg, Cologne, Stuttgart, and Basel. The €1.3bn ($1.4bn) project aims to improve the network's overall reliability and performance.
