Manila Electric Company (Meralco) announced a P2.1496 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) increase in power rates for July, raising the overall rate to P11.6012 per kWh from June's P9.4516 per kWh. The hike is attributed to higher generation charges following artificially low power rates in June. For residential customers consuming 200 kWh, the increase is equivalent to around P430 in their total electricity bill.
