On July 15, China's Foreign Exchange Trade System announced central parity rates of the yuan (RMB) against 25 major currencies, including the US dollar. The yuan's rate against the US dollar is calculated using a weighted average of prices offered by market makers before the interbank market opening. The PBOC sets a daily midpoint for the yuan against a basket of currencies, primarily the US dollar, as a reference point for that day's trading, with a fluctuation range of +/- 2%.
