India seeks to secure critical minerals from Central Asia for its low-carbon transition. Central Asian countries, such as Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan, possess vast reserves of coal, oil, gas, and strategic minerals like uranium and copper. India proposed the creation of an India-Central Asia Rare Earths Forum during the Second India-Central Asia NSAs meeting, aiming to foster cooperation in rare earth and strategic minerals sectors.
