UK's DWP reviews sick note system for Universal Credit, addressing concerns over claimants' fitness for work.
The UK's Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is set to review new evidence on the system for issuing sick notes, which currently allows people claiming Universal Credit to receive additional financial support if they are deemed too ill to work. Under the existing system, after three months of fit notes being sent to the DWP, a work capability assessment is conducted, and claimants may be placed in one of two incapacity groups. The review aims to address concerns about the number of people claiming to be unfit for work.
