Health Service Executive (HSE) in Ireland ends recruitment freeze, allowing six health regions to employ staff within an overall ceiling of 129,753 whole-time equivalent personnel. The recruitment freeze was introduced last year due to budget overruns. The HSE received additional funding, €1.5bn for 2022 and €1.2bn for 2025, with CEO Bernard Gloster stating the extra money is permanent and will go into the base of the health service.
