98-year-old Nanjing Massacre survivor, Shi Xiuying, passed away, leaving 33 registered survivors remaining. The Nanjing Massacre, committed by Japanese troops in 1937, killed around 300,000 Chinese civilians and unarmed soldiers. Shi's mother was reportedly seen searching desperately through dead bodies in hopes of finding Shi's father and elder brother, who were captured by the Japanese invaders.
