43-year-old inmate Holly Pugh, awaiting trial for multiple charges, was found unresponsive in her cell at Western Virginia Regional Jail on July 12. Jail staff initiated CPR and emergency measures while calling 911. Despite their efforts, Pugh was later declared dead of natural causes. The incident is under investigation by the Roanoke County Police Department and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Roanoke.
