On July 10, a relic of St. Mary Magdalene was stolen from Salt Lake City's Cathedral of the Madeleine. Cathedral staff discovered the broken reliquary on the floor, and Father Martin Diaz, the rector, believes this was an act of theft, not vandalism. The Diocese of Salt Lake City is collaborating with police and offering a $1,000 reward for the relic's return or information leading to its recovery.
