NASA's James Webb Space Telescope captures new image of interacting galaxies Arp 142, 326 million light years from Earth.
NASA's James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) celebrates its second anniversary with a stunning new image of two interacting galaxies, nicknamed the "Penguin" and the "Egg." The galaxies, officially known as Arp 142, are separated by 2.5 million light years and are located 326 million light years from Earth. This close interaction between the two galaxies is expected to cause them to merge and form thousands of new stars over millions of years.
