A man died and another was rescued after their boat capsized while crossing the Tweed River Bar in northern NSW. Emergency services, including police, water police, marine rescue, a rescue helicopter, and lifesavers, launched a multi-body rescue operation. One man was retrieved from the water and taken to hospital for precautionary checks, while a second man was winched from the ocean but could not be revived. Initial inquiries indicate neither man was wearing life jackets. The Tweed River Bar is known for boating activities and commercial fishing.
