Labour considers making Tories' puberty blocker ban permanent amidst firmer stance on transgender issues.
Labour could make Tories's puberty blocker ban permanent amidst a firmer stance on transgender issues. Health Secretary Wes Streeting could halt powerful hormone blockers from being given to children, subject to the outcome of a legal hearing. The previous Health Secretary, Victoria Atkins, implemented the ban on private prescriptions for puberty blockers in May, following the publication of the Cass Review, which advised scrutiny of the medication. The ban was initially set to expire on 3 September, but the Labour government is now considering making it permanent.
