A female Bus Éireann driver in Limerick was shot in the face with an air gun by a gang of youths who refused to pay their fares. The 303 bus driver, in her second week on the job, was reportedly frightened and intimidated by the group, prompting her to let them onto the bus. Gardaí are investigating the incident, and the National Bus and Rail Union has called for the establishment of a dedicated Garda Public Transport Unit.
