Floods in central Myanmar have led to the temporary closure of five basic education schools in Minbu town due to rising river levels. The water levels of Ayeyarwady and Chindwin rivers have reached and exceeded warning marks in several towns, prompting the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology to advise residents near riverbanks and low-lying areas to take precautions. Heavy rains since July have caused these rising water levels in rivers.
