AT&T experienced a data breach affecting nearly all customers, compromising call and text records from May 2022 to January 2023, with secured access point and law enforcement involvement.

Telecommunications giant AT&T has revealed a data breach affecting nearly all of its customers, after an unauthorized download of data from a third-party cloud platform. The breach, which spanned from May to October 2022 and January 2023, compromised files containing records of calls and texts, but did not include the content of the calls or messages or sensitive personal information. AT&T has since launched an investigation and enlisted the help of cybersecurity experts to assess the breach's scope and nature. The company has confirmed the data access point used to obtain the information has been secured and is working with law enforcement, resulting in at least one arrest.
