50-year-old Amherst man Daniel A. Martinez pleaded guilty to second-degree attempted murder in connection with a deadly arson at his girlfriend's residence in Buffalo in 2020. Martinez intentionally set a fire on September 30, 2020, which ended up killing his girlfriend's mother, Maria Galazka, who suffered multiple burns and smoke inhalation. Martinez faces a maximum of 25 years in prison.
