10th Circuit Court reverses Feng 'Franklin' Tao's conviction for false statement regarding academic work in China.

A US appeals court reversed the conviction of Feng 'Franklin' Tao, a University of Kansas professor accused of making a false statement regarding his work in China. The decision marks a setback for the US Department of Justice's efforts to curb Chinese influence within American academia. The Denver-based 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, ruling 2-1, found insufficient evidence to support the count on which Tao was convicted in 2022. His lawyer stated Tao was "grateful that this long nightmare is finally over."
