2030 renewable energy capacity goal at risk due to insufficient growth rate, IRENA warns.

IRENA warns that the world risks missing the goal to triple renewable energy capacity by 2030, as the current growth rate is insufficient. A U.N. climate change conference in Dubai set a target of tripling renewable energy capacity worldwide by 2030. To meet this target, the world must add renewable capacity at a minimum 16.4% rate annually through 2030. However, if last year's 14% increase rate continues, the 11 TW target will fall 1.5 TW short, missing the goal by 13.5%.
