Kenya's police chief, Japhet Koome, resigns amid public outrage over anti-government protest deaths.

Kenya's police chief, Japhet Koome, has resigned following public outrage over the police's conduct during anti-government protests, in which at least 39 people died. The resignation comes after President William Ruto dismissed most of his cabinet members in an attempt to manage widespread public anger over proposed tax hikes. Deputy Inspector-General Douglas Kanja has taken over as acting police chief.
