Ireland bans breeding, selling, rehoming, and importing XL Bully dogs due to attack spike, with full ownership ban from February 2023.
Ireland is banning XL Bully dogs after a spike in attacks, including a recent fatal attack on Nicole Morey. The ban will be implemented in phases, with breeding, selling, rehoming, and importing XL Bullies made illegal from October 1. From February 1, 2023, owning an XL Bully will be a criminal offense unless an exemption certificate is obtained, showing the dog is neutered, microchipped, and has a dog licence. The move brings Ireland in line with UK and Northern Ireland laws.
