11 miners injured, 30 rescued; dozens still underground in Poland coal mine quake. A quake hit a coal mine in southern Poland, leaving at least 11 miners injured and dozens still underground waiting to be rescued, local authorities said. Around 30 people have managed to get to the surface, with twenty being taken to hospital in stable condition, according to Lukasz Pach, Director of the Provincial Emergency Medical Service in Katowice. More than 10 rescue teams are on site and the rescue operation is ongoing.
