Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker joined local officials to celebrate the opening of a $15 million public safety building at the Emerson Park MetroLink station in East St. Louis. Funded by a $9.9 million Illinois state grant, the 16,000-square-foot facility includes a 911 dispatch center, office space for sheriff's deputies, holding cells, a training area, and other features. The new center aims to improve security around the MetroLink system.
