The Central Bank of Ireland has committed to establish a new unit to oversee the vetting of candidates for senior roles in the financial sector, following a review by former ECB Supervisory Board Chair Andrea Enria. The review found that the current use of enforcement staff in complex cases causes confusion that the process is akin to a "quasi-enforcement investigation." The Central Bank will implement 12 recommendations to ensure fairness and transparency in its fitness and probity (F&P) regime.
