Bunge and Viterra propose concessions for EU antitrust approval of their $34 billion merger.

U.S. grains merchant Bunge and Glencore-backed Viterra offer concessions in an attempt to win EU antitrust approval for their $34 billion merger. The European Commission extended its deadline for a decision to Aug. 1 from July 18, as the companies announced their merger a year ago to rival global giants Archer-Daniels-Midland and Cargill. The deal requires regulatory clearance in North America, South America, and China, and has triggered concerns from the Canadian competition watchdog and farm groups.
