75-year-old Nelson Shardey, who has lived in the UK since 1977, has been granted indefinite leave to remain in the country by the Home Office after a legal battle. Shardey, a father of three and former newsagent, had faced being removed from the UK despite being a long-term resident, paying taxes, and working in the country. Over £48,000 raised to support his legal fight will be donated to charity.
