Vice President Sara Duterte announced she won't attend President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s State of the Nation Address (SONA) and designated herself as the "designated survivor" in the President's absence. This is her first SONA absence since her vice presidency in 2022. The decision comes after she resigned as Education Secretary in June and amid rumors of an ouster plot against President Marcos.
