U.S. District Judge Trina Thompson dismissed a lawsuit claiming Elon Musk owes $500m in severance to Twitter employees, as ERISA did not cover their claims.

Elon Musk has won dismissal of a lawsuit claiming he owes at least $500 million in severance to thousands of Twitter employees he fired after taking over the social media platform. U.S. District Judge Trina Thompson ruled that the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) did not cover the employees' claims, and therefore lacked jurisdiction. The case is one of several accusing Musk of not keeping promises to former Twitter employees about severance pay after buying the company for $44 billion in October 2022.
