Toronto adopts motion to address growing rat population due to construction and climate change.

Efforts are underway in two of Ontario's largest cities to combat growing rat populations as the rodents that typically lurk underground become more visible due to a combination of construction and climate change. Toronto's infrastructure committee has recently adopted a motion asking city council to direct staff to create an "action plan" to reduce rats in the city, in response to residents' concerns about an increase in visible rats in local neighborhoods.
