2 teenage girls, aged 17 and 18, drowned at New York's Coney Island Beach in Brooklyn after entering the water and disappearing from view during a rainstorm. Police received an emergency call at 8:10 p.m. on July 5, and officers from the aviation, harbor, and scuba units conducted a search, finding the young women in the water. The swimmers were pronounced dead at the NYC Health and Hospitals/Coney Island, and the investigation continues.
