Stephen Flynn reappointed as SNP's Westminster leader after Ian Blackford's resignation; party now has 9 MPs.

Stephen Flynn has been reappointed as the SNP's Westminster leader, following the resignation of Ian Blackford in December 2022. Flynn retained his Aberdeen South seat with a reduced majority, but the party lost its status as the third largest in the Commons, with only nine MPs compared to 48 in 2019. Pete Wishart, the longest-serving SNP MP, has been appointed deputy leader, and Aberdeen North MP Kirsty Blackman has been appointed chief whip.
