Seagull chicks raised on an "urban" diet still prefer seafood, according to new research by the University of Exeter. Herring gull chicks rescued in Cornwall were fed either a "marine" diet of fish and mussels or an "urban" diet of bread and cat food, and all strongly favoured fish. The study suggests that even when raised on an urban diet, the chicks are unlikely to seek urban foods as adults, preferring fish when available.
