Scientists at SickKids develop LK-2 molecule to protect neurons from stroke-related brain damage.

Scientists at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) have developed a new molecule, LK-2, which could protect neurons and prevent stroke-related brain damage. LK-2 selectively blocks the glutamate binding site in acid-sensing ion channels (ASICs) without affecting NMDARs, crucial for learning and memory. The research could lead to the development of future clinical trials for stroke therapeutics.
