Songezo Zibi, Rise Mzansi party leader, has been elected as the new chair of South Africa's parliamentary watchdog, the Standing Committee on Public Accounts (Scopa), despite his party not securing any executive positions. Zibi will scrutinize government spending and work to ensure accountability in the country's finances. The Democratic Alliance will chair five of parliament's 30 portfolio committees.
